Out of the mouth of babes...

Well, the long awaited day has come and gone. I just wanted to share a couple of things said by my seven year old. He has been very involved with this election and glued himself to the TV last night waiting for the results. So I asked him what he thought about the candidates. Well this is what he said about Obama:

Tyler: Mom, did you know Obama is giving money to poor people?
Mom: Yes. (I was thinking he might think this is actually a good idea, but ...)
Tyler: And did you know that those people don't even work?!

Tyler: I heard that Obama is taking guns away from us, and giving them to the robbers. Why would he do that?

Also, before going to bed he said, "I don't understand why people are voting for him. He isn't the best president for our country!"

Needless to say, he was pretty disappointed when he woke up this morning to find out Obama had won.

Good for him for being so in tune with the election. Too bad more adults aren't. It's a sad day in our house. :(

Would it scare you if I said I see a future politician in that kid. I am impressed he knew so much.

I think I like Tyler even more now! What a stud. So, if he gets it, why didn't everyone else?

After you talked to mom last night she shared with us Tyler's song. Funny! And hearing how involved he was I thought the same thing that Alicia thought....that boy is going to be a future politian...maybe President. Obviously it is a sad (maybe mad) day in this house...dad?

Good for Tyler! India came home yesterday and said she had DECIDED. She was voting for Obama. I said, "Really?" Why are you going to vote for him, I asked, knowing she would say because he has the same color skin I do. I told her that was fine if that was what she had decided. Then she asked who Frank and I were going to vote for, and I told her McCain, and she wanted to know why. I told her that while we were happy someone with her same color skin might have a chance to be president that we disagreed with him on too many things to vote for him just because he had the same color skin as she and Max. She wanted to know every detail...talking to her about when life begins was a little tricky, but she totally got it. She told everyone at school that she liked Obama, but that she really didn't like Biden, so she changed her vote to McCain! :) She was so sad this morning when I told her Obama won. If only her vote counted...
